Enhanced Power Supply and Transformer

The Audiolab 6000A MKII features an upgraded power supply with a newly designed transformer for improved performance. It delivers higher voltage from the transformer’s secondary windings, coupled with reduced impedance for more precise control of the power supply voltage. This results in Audiolab's signature sound—remarkably consistent, engaging, with crisp definition, exceptional dynamics, and perfect rhythmic timing.

A robust 200VA toroidal transformer works in tandem with four 15,000uF reservoir capacitors (30,000uF per rail) to power the amplifier. This setup ensures firm control over the music, enabling a wide dynamic range while maintaining a stable and powerful performance.

Advanced DAC Technology

Audiolab has significantly upgraded the DAC performance with the new ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M chipset, replacing the previous ES9018 from the original 6000A. This flagship DAC supports 32-bit/768kHz PCM and incorporates HyperStream® II architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, ensuring ultra-low noise levels and exceptional dynamic range. Inherited from the 7000A, the MKII also introduces a new Class A circuit in the post-DAC active filter stage, providing a more refined and immersive listening experience.

Expanded Connectivity

Connectivity has been significantly enhanced with advanced digital-to-analogue conversion. The MKII now features four S/PDIF inputs and a new HDMI ARC input, ideal for seamless AV system integration—a major improvement over the original model and a vital upgrade for modern audiophiles. Additionally, the unit now supports Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX HD, delivering superior range, speed, and performance for streaming over Bluetooth.

Class AB Amplification: Audiophile Excellence

Unlike competitors using Class D amplifiers, the 6000A MKII stays true to Audiolab’s audiophile legacy with a Class AB power amplifier. Delivering 50W per channel, it can handle peak currents of up to 11 amps, even with challenging speaker loads. Its CFB (Complementary Feedback) topology ensures outstanding linearity and thermal stability, keeping idle current unaffected by output transistor temperatures.

Signal Purity and Flexibility

True to Audiolab’s minimalist philosophy for maximum signal purity, the 6000A MKII features a precision analogue volume control and independent low-noise power supplies, offering performance that rivals far more expensive analogue amplifiers.

It also retains analogue RCA inputs and a dedicated phono stage with a high-quality, low-noise circuit and precise RIAA equalisation. Additionally, the Audiolab-standard dedicated headphone amplifier, utilising current-feedback circuitry, provides a dynamic, detailed, and engaging experience across a wide range of headphone types.

Multi-Functional Operation Modes

The MKII offers versatile operation modes as standard: ‘Integrated,’ which combines the pre- and power amplifier stages; ‘Pre,’ for use as a dedicated preamplifier; and ‘Pre Power Mode.’ In the ‘Pre-Power Mode,’ the pre- and power amplifier stages are separated, allowing the 6000A MKII to be used as a power amplifier in a home cinema system or connected to an external processor. The processor’s output can then be routed back through the amplifier’s ‘power amp in’ socket, providing additional signal processing flexibility.
