Introducing the L-505Z, an integrated amplifier designed in honour of Luxman's iconic L-505 model, beloved by audio enthusiasts. Featuring the newly developed "LIFES" amplifier feedback engine, central to LUXMAN’s modern designs, the L-505Z combines high-quality sound and design expertise from Luxman's premium models. This multifunctional amplifier sets a new standard, inviting you into the world of high-end audio.

Key Features:

  • Class AB power of 100W+100W (8Ω) and 150W+150W (4Ω)
  • 1 x Balanced XLR inputs, 4 x Line on RCA inputs, 1 x MM/MC Phonostage
  • 2 x Headphone terminals with independent grounding
  • Electronically controlled attenuator LECUA
  • Discrete buffer circuitry for preamp
  • Large needle VU level meter and 7-segment LED
  • Multi-functional remote control

The L-505Z, along with the L-509Z and L-507Z, features Luxman's advanced "LIFES" amplification feedback engine, a cornerstone of Luxman's next-generation amplifier technology. LIFES, derived from Luxman's innovative ODNF feedback circuitry, offers superb static performance by not feeding the musical input signal back into the main amplifier, resulting in a natural sound reminiscent of a non-feedback system. The circuit has been completely redesigned, incorporating selected components and extensive listening tests to achieve superior performance and sound quality. LIFES Version 1.0 offers enhanced performance through a simplified and reconstructed circuit, reducing distortion by halving the number of parallel elements. The output stage utilises a parallel push-pull configuration with bipolar transistors, delivering robust Class AB power at 100W+100W (8Ω) and 150W+150W (4Ω).

Electronically controlled attenuator LECUA

The volume control is essential for the functionality and performance of an integrated amplifier, requiring precise signal processing. The L-505Z features LUXMAN’s proprietary LECUA (Luxman Electronically Controlled Attenuator), which has been compacted through a solid-state IC circuit design. LECUA offers exceptional level control with minimal audio quality variation and allows for smooth, detailed adjustments across 88 steps. Additionally, the LR balance adjustment utilises LECUA’s volume shift function, ensuring sound quality remains consistent throughout the volume range. The system maintains intuitive operation via the remote control, while the traditional rotary volume knob provides a satisfying tactile experience, blending convenience with refined operability.

Discrete buffer circuitry for preamp

The "power amp driver" concept is crucial for designing a preamp section, where delivering an energy-rich signal is optimal. The L-505Z features discrete buffer circuitry and a high-current output supply, ensuring accurate reproduction of delicate musical signals while significantly enhancing the power amplifier's drive and performance. The input selector switch utilises a high-quality switching IC for excellent separation and minimal crosstalk. As part of Luxman's latest Generation Z series, the L-505Z offers exceptional musical performance. Additionally, it includes a high-quality MM/MC phono EQ circuit with a parallelised first stage, supporting superior analog playback in line with Luxman's premium components.

Highly regulated power supply circuit

The power supply is crucial for an amplifier, ensuring both immediate current delivery and stable output voltages. The L-505Z features LUXMAN’s renowned 540VA EI-type transformer and four custom 10,000μF filter capacitors. This configuration delivers the necessary instantaneous energy for accurate musical reproduction and maintains consistent voltage under varying loads.

Large needle VU level meter and 7-segment LED

The L-505Z, akin to Luxman's premium models, features prominent needle-type VU meters with white LED backlighting for clear visibility and smooth signal response. A new 7-segment LED level display is positioned between the meters, enabling volume level monitoring from your listening position. Both the meter lighting and LED display can be controlled via the remote.

Headphone terminals with independent grounding

The L-505Z's advanced headphone playback capabilities are designed for the most discerning listening environments. It features both a standard φ6.3mm terminal and a new φ4.4mm terminal with independent ground wiring and separate unbalanced amplifiers, significantly enhancing left-to-right separation. When paired with compatible headphones and cables, this setup delivers superior, three-dimensional sound quality.

Versatile Inputs and Output options

The L-505Z features Luxman's proprietary tone controls, loudness adjustment, LR balance control, and a dedicated function for bi-amp setups or integration with AV amplifiers, all within a single unit. Its rear panel includes 18mm pitch RCA input/output terminals for high-quality cables with large connectors, and robust speaker terminals with an in-line layout that accommodate Y-lugs and banana plugs.
