A Class of Its Own

Traditional solid-state power amplifiers often operate at the limit of their components, leading to unwanted harmonic distortion. Tube amplifiers, while offering a unique sound, also introduce distortion at high levels, though their characteristic behaviour softens the harshness. However, both still result in a skewed representation of the sound.

With the groundbreaking VOLTAiR Technology, the Performer s900 can handle much higher levels of power without pushing components into their critical range. Each component operates within its optimal parameters, delivering a sound that is natural, relaxed, and free from distortion. The result is a deeply enjoyable listening experience—rich in detail and without fatigue.

The Performer s900 features separate amplification stages for voltage and power, ensuring seamless operation of its class-AB amplifier circuit. Thanks to independent feedback paths for each stage, the feedback from the speakers does not interfere with the input stage, allowing VOLTAiR technology to perform at its peak.

Flexibility and Compatibility

The Performer s900 offers both XLR and RCA stereo inputs, making it compatible with virtually any preamplifier on the market without the need for adapters. You can easily switch between the inputs using the Input Select switch located on the rear panel.

Customisable for Your Setup

When we say "fit," we mean perfectly adapted to your preferences. The Performer s900 allows you to adjust the input sensitivity in 0.5 dB steps, from 0 dB to -5.5 dB. This fine-tuned control is more audiophile-friendly than the standard panorama potentiometer found on many preamplifiers, enabling you to match the output perfectly with the input levels of your preamp and speakers.

Power and Versatility

The binding posts on the Performer s900 are designed to accept both banana plugs and stranded wire up to 4 mm in diameter, making it compatible with any common speaker cable. However, we recommend not using speakers with an impedance lower than 2 ohms.

Intelligent Control and Protection

The Performer s900 features an AMP CTL connection, allowing you to control its standby mode through compatible preamplifiers like the Director Mk2, Elector, Phonitor x, or Crossover. You can also use third-party preamps with a 12V trigger input to toggle the amplifier’s standby mode.

To ensure safety and longevity, the Performer s900 is equipped with a DC voltage protection circuit and a temperature sensor that monitors heat levels. If DC is detected, the output stage automatically switches off, and the Protect LED will light up red. If the amplifier overheats, the TEMP LED turns yellow, and the output stage is disabled until it cools down.

At the heart of the Performer s900 is our exclusive VOLTAiR technology, which operates with a 120V DC voltage—four times the standard voltage of traditional IC-based op-amps. This revolutionary technology is made possible by the SPL 120V SUPRA operational amplifiers, designed to handle extreme voltage without damaging the components.

We endeavour to despatch same day for orders placed up to 1pm on available stock items (items with stock message "Usually dispatched within 24 hours"). Please remember to check with us first for a physical stock check if next day delivery is important to you. Any items with stock message "Usually dispatched within 72 hours" are items that we do not hold in stock but order in from the importer or manufacturer as soon as a customer order is received. Occasionally these may be delayed beyond 72 hours due to importer/manufacturer stock levels but we will inform you as soon as we can if this is the case.

UK Orders

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service – Free of Charge. Non Mainland locations - Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer and are not Free of Charge. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as DPD or UPS.

International Orders

Due to the nature of our products and brand restrictions we are only able to send certain items internationally. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail Small Packets Airmail with International Tracked and/or Signed depending on value of item and availability of the service. Larger International shipments are sent by insured and tracked services using UPS. If there are any delays due to specific customs regulations, etc, you will be contacted by Hifisound or by the courier with a request for any further information required. Customs duties can apply for shipments to any countries outside of the UK depending on where the product you have bought is made. Customers are responsible for all taxes and duties incurred when the items enter their country.

Collect in Store or Home Install

At the request of the manufacturer some items cannot be supplied by mail order but you can click and buy them and then elect to collect them from our store or arrange a home install (if applicable). Applicable items clearly state that they are Collect in store or home install. Once ordered you will receive a message prompting you to contact us by phone or email to arrange for us to deliver and install or to reserve and collect from our store at your convenience, you will also be advised of the delivery time / stock availability as not all Home install / collect in store items are held in stock.
