Announced at Bristol HiFi Show 2026, The Rega AOS is a high-performance, dedicated moving coil pre-amplifier designed to bridge the gap between entry-level stages and cost-no-object reference components. Built around a circuit design derived heavily from Rega's award-winning Aura Reference MC, the AOS provides a "no compromise" approach to vinyl playback.

Housed in a custom-engineered, half-width aluminium chassis, the AOS delivers the exceptional definition and vivid realism required to bring your favourite recordings to life.

Key Features:

  • Aura-Derived Circuitry: Reference-grade topology for high-end transparency and scale.
  • Custom Aluminium Chassis: Provides effective RFI shielding and a compact, half-width footprint.
  • Zero Digital Interference: A pure analogue signal path for the ultimate "black" background.
  • Automatic Standby: A switchable feature that puts the unit to sleep when no signal is detected (can be deactivated via rear dip-switches).
  • Lifetime Warranty: Backed by Rega’s legendary lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

Pure Analogue Architecture

The Rega AOS is a uncompromising, two-stage "all-analogue" pre-amplifier, entirely free from digital control circuitry. By eliminating unnecessary components that could degrade the signal path, Rega engineers have achieved a remarkably low noise floor and class-leading transparency. The precision-machined aluminium chassis acts as a total shield, protecting the delicate internal circuitry from stray RFI (Radio Frequency Interference).

Innovations in Stability

A standout feature of the AOS is its self-adjusting servo control. This innovative circuit automatically compensates for variations in ambient or operating temperature, ensuring that the phono stage maintains its optimum performance and sonic character from the moment you drop the needle until the end of your listening session.

High-Performance Input Stage

The AOS utilises parallel-connected, ultra-low-noise Field Effect Transistors (FETs) configured as a compound pair. By using FETs, Rega ensures that no bias current flows back into the cartridge coil. This protects the delicate magnetic geometry of your Moving Coil cartridge, allowing it to track and perform exactly as intended.

The Two-Stage Design

First Stage: Symmetrical Class A

  • The first stage is a symmetrical, complementary Class A amplifier featuring Linear Systems ultra-low-noise FETs.
  • Direct Signal Path: The input configuration eliminates the need for coupling components between the cartridge and the input stage, removing potential barriers to sound quality.
  • Matched Precision: Every FET is carefully graded and matched to guarantee optimum performance. This stage is responsible for driving the passive high-frequency portion of the RIAA equalisation.

Second Stage: Differential Class A

The second stage utilises a symmetrical, Class A differential amplifier with a common base driver stage.

  • Active RIAA Equalisation: This stage acts as the active amplifier for the low-frequency portion of the RIAA equalisation curve.
  • Scale & Composure: This dual-stage approach ensures world-class accuracy across the entire frequency spectrum, delivering the "scale and grip" Rega is famous for.

Customisable Loading & Control

To ensure a perfect match with any high-quality Moving Coil cartridge, the AOS provides extensive rear-panel adjustability:

  • Resistive Loading: Selectable from 70 Ω to 400 Ω.
  • Capacitive Loading: Selectable from 1000 pF to 4300 pF.
  • Gain Sensitivity: A 6 dB gain adjustment switch on the back panel allows you to match the output to the rest of your system.
  • Smart Power: An Automatic Standby feature puts the unit to sleep during inactivity. For those who prefer the unit to remain "always on," this can be easily deactivated via rear-panel dip switches.
