Luxman PD-191A Turntable

The PD-191A turntable system comes with a specially developed LTA-710 static balanced tonearm that employs knife-edge bearing technology for exceptional initial movement sensitivity. The arm is a joint development with the renowned audio brand SAEC and boasts of a fully-fledged original design that took two and a half years to develop. With an effective arm length of 10 inches, tracking errors are minimised, and even the gentlest musical signals picked up by the phono cartridge from the grooves on the record are reproduced faithfully. Additionally, the LTA-710 supports detailed settings such as stylus pressure, anti-skating, and height adjustment, making it possible to maintain playback fidelity with high mechanical precision. Brushless DC motor and high-capacity power supply

The PD-191A turntable system has an original, high-precision, high-torque, brushless DC motor that ensures powerful and stable platter rotation. It is supported by a highly stable, fully regulated large-capacity power transformer and features a sine wave PWM/PID rotation speed control programming for accurate rotation control under various demands. The high-performance reference clock using a MEMS oscillator with excellent temperature characteristics ensures precise speeds and a quiet platter drive, delivering an exceptional vinyl listening experience.

A heavyweight, high-mass platter with a huge moment of inertia

The PD-191A turntable system features a 35mm-thick, 5.2kg heavyweight aluminum platter that delivers smooth and confident rotation. The spindle supporting the platter boasts high-rigidity specifications, with a high-tensile strength stainless steel shaft and a customised bearing support system. The structure combines a PEEK thrust bearing with a matched brass radial bearing filled with organic molybdenum oil, ensuring stable lubrication even under high loads while firmly supporting the platter. The motor's energy is transferred to the platter via an EPDM drive belt, accurately supporting the high-torque brushless DC motor output without loss. Multiple integrated vibration damping structures

The underslung suspension structure, in which the main components are attached to a 15mm thick aluminium plate, has succeeded in achieving both high rigidity and damping performance. Also, by mounting the motor drive system and power transformer on an extra thick bottom plate, insulated with damping rubber, delicate signal pickup is protected from external vibrations, greatly improving the mechanical S/N ratio (rumble) and feedback resistance.

Three selectable rotation speeds with pitch control and stroboscope indicator

The PD-191A supports 3 rotation speeds, 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM. To visualise the rotation speed, we have adopted a reflected LED stroboscope, which was well received with the earlier PD-171 series. The new strobe reflecting strip pattern has enhanced visibility and, by utilising a dedicated control for each individual rotation speed, more reliable and precise rotation speed adjustments are possible.

Original anti-vibration design

The PD-191A turntable system features originally designed, large-diameter insulator legs that can be adjusted up to 5mm in height to prevent the transmission of feedback and external vibrations. To maintain horizontal alignment, these legs incorporate special damping rubber with excellent temperature characteristics and resistance to long-term deterioration. This ensures that the turntable remains stable and free from external vibrations, delivering an exceptional vinyl listening experience.

Optional LMC-5 Moving Coil Cartridge

Luxman's latest phono cartridge, the LMC-5, is designed to capture all the musical information pressed on a record. With 40 years of experience, the MC-type power generation engine features a cross-mounted iron core with a compact magnetic system to improve efficiency. For the vibration detection system, the cartridge features an aluminium cantilever and a SHIBATA stylus, known for its excellent tracing ability. The unique housing structure was developed through repeated prototyping and fine-tuning. We have designed this cartridge with confidence for all vinyl lovers who value its musicality.

We endeavour to despatch same day for orders placed up to 1pm on available stock items (items with stock message "Usually dispatched within 24 hours"). Please remember to check with us first for a physical stock check if next day delivery is important to you. Any items with stock message "Usually dispatched within 72 hours" are items that we do not hold in stock but order in from the importer or manufacturer as soon as a customer order is received. Occasionally these may be delayed beyond 72 hours due to importer/manufacturer stock levels but we will inform you as soon as we can if this is the case.

UK Orders

We despatch the bulk of our UK mainland items on a 24 hour service – Free of Charge. Non Mainland locations - Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Scottish highlands and Islands, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland may take a day or so longer and are not Free of Charge. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail 24 or special delivery. Larger items are delivered using a courier service such as DPD or UPS.

International Orders

Due to the nature of our products and brand restrictions we are only able to send certain items internationally. Smaller items are delivered using Royal Mail Small Packets Airmail with International Tracked and/or Signed depending on value of item and availability of the service. Larger International shipments are sent by insured and tracked services using UPS. If there are any delays due to specific customs regulations, etc, you will be contacted by Hifisound or by the courier with a request for any further information required. Customs duties can apply for shipments to any countries outside of the UK depending on where the product you have bought is made. Customers are responsible for all taxes and duties incurred when the items enter their country.

Collect in Store or Home Install

At the request of the manufacturer some items cannot be supplied by mail order but you can click and buy them and then elect to collect them from our store or arrange a home install (if applicable). Applicable items clearly state that they are Collect in store or home install. Once ordered you will receive a message prompting you to contact us by phone or email to arrange for us to deliver and install or to reserve and collect from our store at your convenience, you will also be advised of the delivery time / stock availability as not all Home install / collect in store items are held in stock.
